c21 Launch into 2012

Now that both our Christmas Shows have finished c21  Theatre Company would like to wish all our audiences, friends and sponsors a very Merry Christmas and a happy and productive 2012.

C21 had a very busy 2011 and some of the highlights included:

A 12-venue tour of NI with ‘Not A Game For Boys’ in March 2011.

A rehearsed reading of ‘Appendage’ by Derek Murphy in June 2011 as part of the Pic n Mix festival in association with The MAC.

5 weeks of Summer Camps throughout July and August 2011 as part of the company’s Outreach work.

The Joint Sectoral Dramaturgy Fund (ACNI) provided development funding for a week in November 2011 at the Lyric Theatre to work on ‘Appendage’.  The Company was able to fly New York playwright Derek Murphy to Belfast for a script development week.  The conclusion was a rehearsed reading with movement and a lively Q&A afterwards!

C21 decided to produce 2 Christmas shows (Little Red Riding Hood 7-21 December, Braid Arts Centre, Ballymena and Hansel and Gretel, NI Tour 29^th November – 21 December 2011) in what turned out to be their busiest month ever!

Audience figures are still coming in but as it stands both shows have been watched by almost 14,000 in the last three weeks!!  An amazing achievement by the company and congratulations and thanks to all personnel involved!

2012 has an international flavour??

After the success of 2011, c21 has plans for an even bigger 2012!  We are looking at a NI touring Production of Appendage and if all the hard work pays off we could be off across the water!  Watch this space…
